Friday Favorites: The 90s Playlist

Ah, the nineties. What's not to love about that decade and its music? The nostalgia is real. I can vividly recall my angsty teen years. These six songs bring back so many memories.  This music hits me in the feels.  Let's take a quick walk down memory lane, shall we?

Ninth grade: I was a huge fan of The Cranberries and played their CDs on repeat. I drove my father so crazy he threatened to run over the disc with his car.

"Dad, you just have to let it linger. The song will grow on you!"

He wasn't buying it. I'm pretty sure he thought I'd turned into a Zombie.

Who can forget the Stone Temple Pilots? Another CD I played on repeat. My mother couldn't understand the lyrics.

"Flies?  And Vasoline?  Is this a reference to drugs?  Or sex?  What are you listening to!?"

Sophomore year:  Alanis Morissette's Ironic was my favorite song to sing at the top of my lungs.  In the car.  My parents loved it.

Junior year:  I was a bad, bad girl.  (Okay, not really, but this song made me feel like a bad ass.)

Senior year:  We were bitches.  Or so we thought.

1998:  I started working at my dad's tavern as a bartender.  Another bartender, Liz, introduced me to Ani Di Franco. I had moved out the same year and lived above the bar.  This was my go-to CD after bar close. Oh, the parties we had!

I will likely always love this music.  What are your favorite songs from the 90s?
